About This Event
Even without a voice, the Force speaks volumes. The Silent Force invites performers to step into a scene and let expression do the talking. Through mime and movement, they'll tell stories from galaxies, far, far away….
Rules
- Theme: Star Wars — Reimagined with Purpose.
- Language: Non-verbal.
- Medium: Gesture, expression, movement.
- Participants are to creatively reinterpret an episode or scene from the Star Wars saga through mime performance. Any episode, scene, or conflict from Star Wars can be presented. Teams must infuse a strong underlying message or moral, relevant to the present day.
- Competition is open to students of grades 9 to 12.
- Each team must consist of 6 to 8 student performers.
- Each team will be allotted 6 to 8 minutes for their performance.
- Dialogue or spoken narration is strictly prohibited.
- Emphasis should be on facial expression, body language, synchronization, and symbolic gestures.
- Use of minimal and symbolic props is allowed, but no prop should dominate the mime.
- Teams must ensure props/costumes are safe, easy to manage, and non-hazardous.
- Any Star Wars theme or music or sound effects should be used to enhance the act (without dialogue or lyrics).
- Each team should send the music/songs in MP3 format to mailus@npsjayanagar.com by 07.07.2025.
- Teams must also carry their audio on a pen drive clearly labelled with school name and file format.
- Teams will be given 2 minutes before their performance for setting up and clearing the stage.
- Use of the auditorium/stage space must be respectful and not cause damage or mess.
- Any verbal expression or dialogue during performance will lead to disqualification.
- Obscene gestures, inappropriate content, or disrespect to theme/school will lead to disqualification.
- The judge's decision will be final and binding.
- Schools are requested to maintain respectful conduct throughout the event.
- Intellectual Property: Content created during the competition remain the intellectual property of the contestants. However, by participating, contestants grant permission for the competition organizers to share their content for promotional purposes.
- Judging Criteria: Creativity and originality in interpreting the theme, clarity and strength of the message, expression and synchronization, use of space and stagecraft, overall impact and audience connection.
