About This Event
From rebel radios to galactic arenas, music fuels the resistance. Imperial Beats brings together young bands who dare to blend genres, break expectations, and turn themes into soundtracks. Every note, every beat, every harmony has a mission: to move the galaxy.
Rules
- The competition is open to students from grades 9 to 12.
- Each band must consist of 6–8 members.
- All participants must be current students of the same school.
- Number of Compositions: Each band must prepare four musical pieces.
- A. Original Composition: At least one piece must be an original composition; B. Rhythm of Resistance: An instrumental fusion piece - could be a duet or ensemble with opposing musical styles (e.g., classical vs. electronic, Indian tabla vs. Western drums, acoustic vs. synth); C. Contemporary Interpretation: One piece should be a modern or contemporary song that can be creatively tied to the theme; D. Free Choice: The fourth piece can be of the band's choice, provided it aligns with the theme.
- The total performance time, including all four pieces, should not exceed 15 minutes, including setup and teardown time.
- Bands are responsible for bringing their own instruments and equipment.
- Lyrics and performance content must be appropriate for a school setting.
- Any form of offensive or inappropriate content will lead to disqualification.
- There must be no vulgarities, profanities, lewd comments, racist remarks, violence, sexual content, references to suicide or drug use, etc. in the lyrics.
- Bands must submit a brief description of their performance pieces, including song titles and any relevant details, to mailus@npsjayanagar.com by 07.07.2025.
- Participants must adhere to the code of conduct as outlined by the organizing committee.
- Respectful Behaviour: All contestants are expected to maintain a respectful and professional attitude towards each other, the judges, and the competition staff.
- Any form of misconduct or violation of rules will lead to immediate disqualification.
- All performances must be conducted in a safe and orderly manner.
- Compliance with school policies and local regulations is mandatory.
- The decisions of the judges is final and binding.
- Intellectual Property: Content created during the competition remains the intellectual property of the contestants. However, by participating, contestants grant permission for the competition organizers to share their content for promotional purposes.
- Judging Criteria: Relevance to Theme, Musicality, Creativity, Stage Presence, Audience Impact.
