About This Event
Tiny ships, big ideas, and whole galaxies built on tabletops. Galactic Perspective challenges photographers to craft and capture miniature Star Wars scenes with cinematic flair. It is part storytelling, part model-making, and entirely mesmerizing to look at.
Rules
- Theme: Star Wars Miniature Photography.
- The competition is open to students from grades 9 to 12.
- Each team will consist of two members.
- Miniature photography, also known as tilt-shift photography, is a technique that makes life-size scenes appear as if they are miniature models.
- Participants will recreate scenes from any Star Wars episode using miniature models and props and then capture them through creative photography to visually narrate the scene.
- Each participant must carry a digital camera (DSLR or compact) for high-quality photography, a card reader to transfer images quickly for evaluation or display, a lighting setup suitable for miniature photography such as portable lamps, LED lights or torchlights, an extension cords or power strips for connecting their lighting equipment.
- The time duration for the event is 2 hours.
- Participants must select any Star Wars episode or iconic scene and create a detailed miniature model of the chosen scene.
- Participants must use creative camera angles, lighting, and depth of field to enhance the realism.
- Participants should employ techniques like forced perspective or motion blur to add drama.
- Participants must submit six photographs along with a title and caption in the given format and five high-quality jpeg photographs from different angles.
- Participants must include a title and one-line caption for each image.
- Participants must include one behind-the-scenes photo of the miniature setup, the lighting setup and the participants involved in the photoshoot.
- Respectful behaviour: All contestants are expected to maintain a respectful and professional attitude towards each other, the judges, and the competition staff.
- Intellectual Property: Content created during the competition remain the intellectual property of the contestants. However, by participating, contestants grant permission for the competition organizers to share their content for promotional purposes.
- Disqualification: Any violation of the rules, cheating, or misconduct may result in immediate disqualification from the competition.
- Judging Criteria: Creativity & Concept, Star Wars Scene Accuracy, Craftsmanship of Miniature, Photography Technique, Title and one-line caption.
